I’m Julia. I’ve struggled with my weight all my life. Up a few pounds, down a few pounds. Never in control, but blissfully happy.
My life changed in 2010. We took the family on the adventure trip of lifetime. Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, and the Dakota’s. Three wonderful weeks with grandparents, kayaking, fishing, exploring, hiking, charting new ground. Sometime after we got back, I was going through the pictures and couldn’t figure out who the lady in the picture was with my sons. I asked my eldest and he said, “Mom, that’s you.” I had got to the point, that I didn’t recognize myself.
You hear about people who have those “oh shit” moments. That was my moment. The lady smiling at the camera looked happy enough. But, she was beyond heavy. She was fat. That day, I knew that I didn’t want to be that lady any more. So, my journey started last fall with a paper calendar and the simple resolve that my life and habits had to change.
Nearly one year later, I have lost over 50 pounds and feel better than I have in years. I have finally reclaimed that outdoor girl I remember growing up. Now, I am the sexy hot wife that my husband fell in love with.
So why a blog? First, I still have the next part of my journey to complete. My goal is to get down to 160 pounds. Second, there have been so many people who asked how I ‘ve lost the weight, that the blog is an opportunity to create a road map & inspiration for others. Finally, it is a way to share recipes and fun that I am having on the journey.
