Today is the day of waiting. You planned, you worked. It’s almost here. but it isn’t here yet.

The waiting for it. The working for it. The realization it’s going to happen soon!
I truly find my self excited today. I am ready for my race tomorrow. I feel good. I feel rested. For once, I’m not injured and getting ready to suck up the pain.

My morning road ride got me to thinking, what keeps you going?
As the hill loomed ahead, I was stopped at a safe side of the road resting and catching my wind. Having come down Kenneth, the road was clear but as I rested I could hear the train getting closer to crossing at 159 and Kenneth. As I looked up the long hill, I realized this is going to give me extra needed space on the narrow road. Quick!! time to get back on the bike and start peddling. Push. Don’t stop until the top. You can do it.
My head said I could do it! My legs were doubting my head. My breathing was ready to agree with my legs. My head kept us going. Just a little further. You can do it. and suddenly we were there. Head exploding and legs saying I told you so, but still we were there at the top of that little Kansas hill. As i got off the bike, a jeep passed me on the way down. He looked me straight in the eye and gave me a thumbs up. I smiled and thumbs up back that I was a-okay. yeah!! I made it!! Thumbs up is right! In the distance you could hear the train guards dinging that they were about to go up. That was the end of my break. It was time to get back on the bike and finish my ride.
As i’ve trained these last 12 weeks, I’ve broken down the “I can do it” into small increments. If can run just to the next signpost. I can do this hill and then take a break. I can get to the gym even if it is only for a smaller workout. I know I will feel better after accomplishing my goal. Even if it is that smallest goal of running to the next sign post. I did it. And that means the next goal won’t be so insurmountable that I won’t try.
So then. What keeps you going? What do you want to try next?
Fortunately or unfortunately, I took most of April off for hard core training. I think you need those breaks.
Sunday I knuckled down to map out my next 12 weeks. I’ve had to modify things a bit for Bartle & DR travels.
Now go get outside and play today!!

Today was much busier than anticipated. Goal get a walk in. No go at work.
Choice #1 go to Whole Foods and do shopping before Royals game to night.
Choice #2 look into those beautiful puppy dog eyes and walk the dog.
Duh!!! #2 was the clear winner
Royals seem to be doing much better tonight. Mid 5, we are up 3-2
My new favorite cook is Janet. She made an excellent dinner. Poor Rob. Didn’t get superb service. The order taker messed up, and it took 1 full inning before they realized. 2 innings later. FINALLY food. Yikes!!!!!

Great walk on Friday. Busy day so I was wagging to get outside. We went as far north on Baltimore as we could. Then east past the federal court house. New long hills found. Ugh!!!!
The building at north of baltimore is the Cayolic discuses bldg. love the bronze eagle. Lots of the kc hmmm odds. And also walked past a parade doing the passion. Always interesting.
